House of Reps Summons Niger Delta Minister Over BNC’s Petition

The Niger Delta Minister, Prince Abubakar Momoh, has been summoned by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions to appear before it on Thursday 7th of March, 2024.

This is contained in the summons dated 21st February, 2024 which was signed by the Committee Chairman. The venue of the meeting is at Room 429 of the New wing while the time has been fixed for 2.00 pm.

It will be recalled that the Petitioner, Benin National Congress, had earlier in the year successfully laid the petition before the house plenary through the member representing Egor- Ikpoba/Okha federal constituency of Edo State, Honourable Murphy Omoruyi. The Congress had alleged that the Edo South zone had been unfairly excluded from the Ministry’s projects as contained in the 2024 budget.

The summons clearly states that the respondent is to appear in person with 1 soft and 10 hard copies of his brief on the matter and that the matter may be heard or determined whether or not he attends.
