Barely 3 Weeks After Collapse, Karu–Keffi–Akwanga Transmission Line Restored

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has completed the reconstruction of three collapsed 132kV transmission towers, T78, T79 and T80, and restored the Karu–Keffi–Akwanga Transmission Line.

According to a statement signed by the Company’s management, the reconstruction was completed at 5:31pm on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, restoring the transmission pathway serving the 132/33kV Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Stations.

It will be recalled that the towers had collapsed on 7th October, 2026 following heavy rainfall and strong winds. TCN’s maintenance crew swung into action working diligently to reconstruct them and restore the affected line.

The company used the opportunity to restate it’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening its transmission infrastructure to ensure the reliable and efficient transmission of bulk electricity across the country.
