As the race for the leadership of the 10th Senate heats up, a coalition of All Progressives Congress, APC, youth groups have endorsed the former governor of Zamfara State Abdul-Aziz Yari as senate president.
The groups which include, Alliance of Arewa for Asiwaju, National Youth Vanguard and Youth Action Forum, described Mr Yari as the best man for the job.
While addressing a press conference in Abuja, leader of the group, Sabo Abdullahi said the 10th Senate needed a competent and level headed personality in person of Mr Yari.
Mr Abdullahi said, ” He is a consummate politician, humane, and a bridge builder with empirical evidence that cuts across tribe, religion, and other political sentiments. His leadership qualities are the ingredient that the 10th Senate requires to further gain the trust of the citizens.
“Yari is regarded as one of the first-rate politicians of the Fourth Republic. His political career began in 1999 with the dawn of the current political era. He served as the Secretary of the then All Nigeria People’s Party [ANPP],Chairman of ANPP Zamfara State and later rose to the position of National Financial Secretary.
“He was elected as a member representing Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the green chambers, H. E Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari served as Zamfara State Governor for 8 years, On May 18, 2015, he became the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
“Honesty and integrity are two important ingredients that make a good leader. Distinguished Senator Yari fits perfectly into this description. He is an astute leader with broad-based knowledge of executive and legislative experience having progressed steadily through the political ladder. He has the vision and knows how to turn things around for the benefit of humanity.
“At this point in Nigeria’s political journey Yari understands the system, he can intensify the social intervention programs of the party and the President Elect, H. E Bola Ahmad Tinubu to emancipate more Nigerians from the cycle of poverty.
“If given the responsibility to spearhead the leadership of the 10th Senate, Nigerians should expect a functional, stable, progressive, and policy-oriented National Assembly that will work effectively with the President-elect, H. E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards the delivering of the dividend of democracy to the people.
“As concern citizens of nation and members of All progressve congress ( APC) We hereby call on the leadership of the party, Mr President Elect, Critical stakeholders and all elected Senators of the 10th assembly to support H. E Abdulaziz Yari as the next Senate president of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
