President of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN and Converner of Compatriot Nigerians Hussaini Mohammed Gutsugi has disclosed that they have passed a vote of endorsement on the candidacy of former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari as Senate President of the 10th National Assembly noting that he will bring purpsee leadership and integrity to bear on the nation.
While addressing journalists at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the group said they are calling on the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari and President elect, Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and concerned Nigerians to rethink the aspiration of the former Nigeria Governors Forum.
According to them: ” We are here to pass a vote of endorsement for the candidacy of former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari for the position Senate President for the 10th National Assembly. Yari is a man of integrity, accountability and of courage. He was once the former chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF.
” He served a very good term during his time. He also move further to promote the integrity of this country because during his time most of the diplomatic positions that was given to this country was based on his contributions of the NGF under him as chairman.
” The President Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also note that the North West region have shared various political history with the people of South West. We are also pleasing with all the aspirants to sit on a round table and consider the position of Yari as the best candidate.
” For the historical moment of today, we stand to tell the World that the candidacy of Yari is the best for the All Progressives Congress, APC. We are also calling on the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and all concern stakeholders of the party including Mr President Muhammadu Buhari that for sometime now, the historical votes of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general election was given by the people of the North West.
” The North West zone of this country has never been represented at the National Assembly in the position of the Senate President or Deputy Senate President. They have only been given opportunity to serve as President under the presidency for a different political portfolio for the different political parties of the country which is the PDP under late President Musa Yar’dua. And now which is President Muhammadu Buhari.
” We are calling on Nigerians based on the zoning arrangements and looking at the popularity of insecuriry that have been affecting this people and the hardship that this people are faced with in the historical time of today. The compatriot Nigerians are call on the diplomatic Community to please consider the candidature of Yari for the Senate President for the 10th National league”, he stated.
Also speaking, Hon. Obi Nwenze noted that Senator Abdulaziz Yari has what it takes to lead the 10th Senate because of his sagacious approach to issues that affect everyone.
He said: ” We are here as a compatriot group. We are for credible leadership which Yari represent. He has demonstrated that he has the competence. We believed that that the 10th Senate will be in a safe hands under the leadership of Abdulaziz Yari.
” We are also calling on all political groups irrespective of their position before now that what we need is is purposeful leadership and Senator Abdulaziz Yari represent that. That I why we are appealing to everybody to follow suit. We believed that it will surely become a reality God willing.”, he explained.
