We Have Curbed Fraud Through Digitalization – FCT Board

The Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Area Council Pension Board has come out to say it has given priority attention to digitalizing its pension system to curb fraudulent practices at all levels.

This disclosure was made by the Director and Chief Executive of the Board, Dr. Nanzing Nden, when he briefed newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the responsibility of managing life savings of workers through the pension scheme, was a very sacrosanct duty that requires utmost transparency and accountability.

Nden disclosed that due to the efficient and seamless system Instituted by the board, Area Councils staff and Local Education Authority teachers, whose pensions are domiciled and managed by them, do not experience the pains associated with contributory pension.

He said, “We also have a document management that ensures all our files are digitalised, and in the course of our efforts in this direction, the FCT Administration itself has come to copy what we are doing here.

“We have also implemented the system, where we gave robust system implementation or computation of accrual rights benefits to all our staff.

According to him, the reforms the board introduced over the years, had boosted stakeholders confidence in their systems, while also attracting accolades across the globe.

“This year, we were nominated as the finalist at the World Pension Summit, which held in Netherlands, due to the implementation of efficient strategies for innovations in pensions.

“So we are the only agency in the FCT that has a charter. Also, we have been able to launch our anti corruption transparency guide, and we are the only agency in the FCT to do such, so this year, we intend lo launch our operation manual, which will also be the first for the FCT”, he added.
