We Discussed Registration Extension, Not CECPC Tenure Elongation- Ali Buka- Dalori

The Forum of State Committee Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the insinuations in the media of a likely tenure elongation for the APC’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee did not come up for discussion at all and so the issue of accepting or rejecting the motion did not arise.
The group said the news report in a section of the media to the effect that the recent meeting of states’ caretaker chairmen of the party rejected a plot to extend the tenure of the Party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) is fake and such a plot only exists in the imaginations of the authors and their sponsors.
In a statement signed by Ali Buka-Dalori, the Borno State Caretaker Committee Chairman who doubles as the Chairman of the Forum, the group debunked the news report explaining that what it discussed was the extension of the party’s membership registration and revalidation exercise which had earlier been scheduled to end by March 31, 2021.
“Our meeting deliberated on and unanimously agreed on the need for an extension of the ongoing membership registration, revalidation and update exercise and we are happy the CECPC promptly acceeded to our pleas by granting a three-week extension to accomodate states requiring additional time to conclude the exercise and capture millions of Nigerians who are still desirous of joining the APC.
“At no time during the meeting of APC states caretaker chairmen or in our briefing to media organisations after the meeting was anything related to tenure elongation deliberated on or mentioned.
The Forum while hailing the efforts of the Caretaker/ Emergency Convention Planning Committee in repositioning the party also promised to support it towards achieving the set goals.

“The CECPC under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni has truly surpassed its mandate to reposition and bring unity to the APC and we will continue to support all its efforts to ensure the completion of all the tasks assigned to the CECPC by the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and further entrench the APC as a truly progressive political platform.
