UBA Announces N10.5m Prizes for 2023 Essay Competition

The United Bank for Africa has announced a total of N10.5m in educational grants to be won by the winners of its 2023 National Essay Competition. A breakdown of the total sum shows that the Winner will cart away an educational grant of N5m, while the first and second runners –up will win grants of N3.5m and N2m respectively. The grant is to support /sponsor their education in any African University of their choice.

The competition is one of the several ways the bank gives back to society beyond its core banking mandate. It is targeted at promoting the reading culture and encouraging healthy intellectual competition among senior secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa.

The topic for this year’s edition is, “Will Artificial Intelligence (AI) take over Human Intelligence? What should students do to ensure that AI doesn’t override but enhance their ability to learn through research?

Among other requirements for this year’s edition, applicants,who must be Nigerian Senior Secondary school students, are to upload a handwritten (NOT TYPED) essay with a maximum of 750 words on the portal-www.ubagroup.com/national-essay-competition- not later than Friday 20th of October, 2023.

The other requirements are: submission of passport photograph, complete contact information as well as scanned copy of Birth Certificate, National ID or International Passport.
