The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has declared that his ability to lead has nothing to do with political party, as he will still perform even if he leaves the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for another one.
The Governor said this while speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration of the dualised Ogbunuabali-Eastern bypass road in Rivers.
Wike who noted that he is committed to serving his people, further maintained that if given the chance, he would successfully tackle banditry in Nigeria.
According to him, “Leadership is not about party, leadership is about the individual. Party is only a vehicle to actualise your ambition, to be able to tell your people ‘I have this capacity; I have this quality to render services to you.
“If you take me away today from PDP to another party, I will still perform. So, it is not because I’m in PDP that I’m performing. It is because I have that passion for my people. It is because I have the commitment to serve my people,” Wike said.
It was earlier reported that Governor Wike has vowed that the people of his State will not vote for politicians who have no regard for them.
According to him, the people of Rivers State must benefit from any candidate that will have their votes.
