Soludo To Discipline Task Force Personnel Who Slapped Odumeje

...Says It Will Never Happen Again

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo has directed that Task Force personnel involved in the mistreatment of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, aka, Odumeje, be treated in accordance with the rules of public conduct “which he roundly failed to uphold.”

In a statement, by the governor, Soludo who condemned the assault, promised that it would never happen again.

The statement reads in parts; “Let me sincerely thank ndi Anambra for their patience with us as we take bold steps toward making our homeland livable and prosperous.” “On this journey, we will take imperfect steps, emotions will run wild, and opinions will thicken,” the Governor said.

“It is important to note that we will remain unafraid, correct our flaws, strive to keep our emotions in check, and aggregate opinions that are in the best interests of our overall good.”

“Yesterday’s outing elicited emotions, not against the government’s decision, but against the imperfect and unprofessional manner in which one of the task force members discharged his lawful duty.”

“This is deeply regrettable, and it will never happen again. I have directed that the task force personnel involved in the abuse of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere (Odumeje) be treated in accordance with the public conduct rules that he consistently violated.

“We will work hard to carry out the mandate you have given us.” Nothing less than the best results are guaranteed. I condemn the assault on behalf of the government and people of Anambra State, and I ask for your continued support in the fight to restore the dignity of Onitsha, and indeed the entire state.” The Governor wrote.

Before now, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, had demanded an immediate apology from the Anambra State Governor, and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba over an assault on the Prophet by officers of the Nigerian police.

It will be recalled that Odumeje’s church, Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Onitsha was demolished on Thursday for being built on a drainage channel.

The clergy was then assaulted by security operatives when he attempted to intervene during the demolition exercise.
