NIGCOMSAT Partners BON to Enhance Broadcasting Services


NIGCOMSAT Limited, Nigeria’s leading satellite communication infrastructure provider, has begun a collaborative partnership with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) to provide uplink services on the NIGCOMSAT satellite network. This strategic alliance aims to improve the quality and reach of broadcasting services for BON members across the country for a period of three months.

This development which aligns with the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy under the supervision of the Honourable Minister, Dr Bosun Tijani, will see NIGCOMSAT leverage its state-of-the-art satellite technology to empower BON and its member organisations. This partnership will enable BON to seamlessly access NIGCOMSAT’s reliable and high-performance uplink services, ensuring their broadcast signals are delivered with unparalleled quality and consistency to viewers nationwide.

According to the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Mrs Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, “NIGCOMSAT is committed to driving digital transformation and enhancing connectivity across Nigeria”. “By collaborating with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, considering the strong influence it has in the media space and its contributions to the development of the society, we have the opportunity to elevate the country’s broadcasting landscape and bring the benefits of satellite technology to millions of Nigerians who rely on these vital services”, she added.

The collaboration will commence immediately with NIGCOMSAT’s technical team working closely with BON to integrate their systems and ensure a seamless transition. This partnership underscores NIGCOMSAT’s dedication to supporting the growth and development of Nigeria’s media and communications sectors, ultimately empowering citizens with access to reliable and informative content.

The Executive Secretary of BON, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose in turn, expressed gratitude to NIGCOMSAT Ltd under the leadership of Mrs Egerton-Idehen for the significant gesture and the special consideration accorded BON members, which also includes the allocation of two transponders at discounted rates and the commitment to support the broadcasting industry.

The Executive Secretary also affirmed that BON members have been promptly notified of this development and they will surely benefit from the collaboration which is posed to add value to the broadcasting industry in the country.

Meanwhile, NIGCOMSAT Ltd participated in the 79 General Assembly of BON which took place in Benin City, Edo State, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The Executive Secretary of BON, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, expressed joy at the presence of NIGCOMSAT Ltd at the event and a goodwill message was delivered by representative of the MD/CEO, Mrs Jelilat Folakemi Olusesi, of the South-West Business Office.

“We believe your participation has provided a unique opportunity for interaction with CEOs of BON stations. This interaction will not only enrich the Assembly but also pave the way for potential partnerships and collaborative initiatives that could significantly benefit the broadcasting industry,” he added.
