First Anniversary: Immigration Command and Control Center, Ministry’sToken to Mr. President

The Command and Control Centre of the Nigeria Immigration Service is ready for commissioning by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria according to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. He described the completion of the project as token to the Nigerian leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Minister made the disclosure, Thursday, while answering questions from reporters following his inspection of the Border Management Control Centre within the premises of the Immigration based in Abuja.

“I am happy that you were there today and as you can see it is 100% ready. We are good to go. We have already notified Mr president of the readiness,I am happy you were there today,you can see that we are hundred percent ent ready and are good to go,so for now we are waiting for Mr President.

In a voice laden with fulfilment, the Minister added, “and I’m sure it is going to be a token from the Ministry of Interior to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in terms of his first year anniversary.”

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu clocks one year in office in less than a week from now.

Talking about the level of automation of border surveillance in the country, Dr. Tunji-Ojo stressed that,”we have gone very far,at the moment we have done up to sixty percent in terms of deployment, ” what we are doing now is automating the whole surveillance system in our border space and I think it is about sixty percent now.

” I just saw it now,real time we can view a lot of our borders at this moment. The simple truth is that we are automating the whole process. He projected that by October the first phase of the whole border surveillance system would have been completed.

He emphasized that securing our borders is very important in terms of securing our nation and this current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not leaving any stone unturned in the quest of making Nigeria a safe country for people to be able to sleep with their two eyes closed.
“I can tell you that anyone who thinks he can perpetrate illegality within ourboarderspace should be prepared,” he warned.
The Minister also hinted at incorporating an intelligence gathering partnership with the border communities within the automation system.
Complementing the Ministers remarks, the Comptroller- General of Immigration, Kemi Nana Nandap stated,”Like the Honourable Minister has said,we are over sixty percent,and our officers are being trained and our borders are properly manned and ready to go,our officers are motivated and ready to man our boarders properly.
On border community sensitisation, the CG said, last week I was in kebbi state and that is why I was there to meet the boarder ommunity to tell them that we are here to work with them and collaborate with them.
