APC Sets Date, Guidelines for LGA Congresses


The All Progressives Congress (APC), has fixed September 4 as the date for its Local Government Area congresses.
This is contained in a notice signed by the CECPC Secretary, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe.
To this end, sale of forms is to last from Wednesday August 18, 2021 to Saturday August, 2021 while screening of aspirants will hold from Tuesday 31st August to 2nd September,2021. Appeals which arise from the Congress of September 4 will be heard for six days from Monday 6th September to Saturday 11th September, 2021.

According to the guidelines, the cost of nomination forms is as follows: Chairman N25,000; Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer N15,000 while other offices cost N10, 000.
The guidelines gave a special consideration to female and physically challenged aspirants.
“Female Aspirants and Physically Challenged Aspirants are to pay 50% of the prescribed fees for each position.”
The caretaker Committee states that it relied on extant provisions of the party’s constitution as well as the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to carry out the exercise.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Article 11:A sub-section (i-xiii), and Article 17(i) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Constitution, the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has approved the guidelines and the conduct of Congresses across Local Government Areas (LGAs) stipulated in Sections 156 of the Electoral Act and in parts I & II of the first schedule of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended).”
