..…As President Tinubu Announces New 17-Member Board
President Tinubu announced Tuesday a new board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with Chiedu Ebie as Chairman automatically replacing the Lauretta Onochie -led board. The appointments took immediate effect.
Outgoing Chairman Onochie was a member of former President Buhari’s media team before she got appointed as the NDDC Chairperson after a failed bid at making her a commissioner with the Election umpire, Independent National electoral Commission.
She is well –known for her outspokenness bordering on recklessness resulting in remarks that did not sit well with majority of the public in many instances.
The new board comprises the Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie (Delta State) ; Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (Bayelsa State); 3 Executive Directors- Boma Iyaye (Finance &Admin); Victor Antai (Projects); Ifedayo Abegunde (Corporate Services) Eight State Representatives as well as representatives of the North East, North West and North Central geopolitical zones.
The State Representatives on the board are: Senator Dimaro Deyenbofa (BAYELSA), Abasi Ndikan Ikono (AKWA IBOM), Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya (DELTA), Chief Tony Okocha (RIVERS), Hon. Patrick Aisowieren, Kyrian Uchegbu (IMO), Victor Kolade Akinjo (ONDO), Chief Dimgba Eruba (ABIA) and Asu Oku Okang (CROSS RIVER).
Honourables Nick Wende, Namdas Abdulrazak and Senator Abdullahi Gobir are to represent the North Central, North East and North West zones respectively on the board.
The new helmsman, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) currently on suspension, served as Secretary to the State Government of Delta State under the immediate past governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa. He is believed to be a strong ally of the former governor of the state, Chief Ibori.,
