The Commissioner of Insurance, Mr. Sunday Thomas, has expressed hope that the Nigerian Actuaries Society Discount Rate Committee (NAS-DRC) will enhance accountability and prudence.
“It is thus my sincere expectation that the inauguration of the NAS-DRC will no doubt enhance accountability, prudence and comparability in financial reporting and thereby support the stability in the Nigerian financial system.
“I am hopeful that the deliberations and activities of the NAS-DRC will bring about the desirable impact for the Nigerian financial system.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the Committeewhich held on Wednesday July 12, 2023.
The Committee is made up of representatives of NAS, NAICOM, Actuarial Representative of audit firms, Resident Actuaries of i.nsurance operators. The President of NAS and a representative of NAICOM of not less than Director rank are Chair and co-Chair respectively.
