Dr.Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance , has finally been announced by the Geneva based World Trade Organisation as it’s new Director-General. The announcement was made Monday by the organisation.She is the first female and first African to occupy the exalted seat. TThis is coming after the shift in America’s stance on her candidature. America under the leadership of President Donald Trump had opposed her emergence as the new Director-General but this position changed with the recent election of President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party candidate.
