Democracy Day: “Embrace Patriotism, Responsible Citizenship,” VCN President Urges Nigerians

As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day on June 12, the President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Professor Matthew Adamu, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the enduring values of democracy, freedom, justice, accountability, and national unity.

“This historic day reminds us of the sacrifices made by patriots who fought for democratic governance and the collective responsibility we all share in building a prosperous and resilient nation”, Prof. Adamu said.

“The Veterinary Council of Nigeria remains committed to its statutory mandate of regulating veterinary education and practice in Nigeria. Through effective regulation, accreditation of training institutions, licensingof practitioners, and enforcement of professional standards, the Council contributes significantly to national development.

“Our work supports government efforts in strengthening food security, safeguarding public health through the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, enhancing livestock productivity, promoting animal welfare, and facilitating safe trade in animals and animal products. These contributions are vital to economic growth, job creation, and the overall well-being of Nigerians.

“As we celebrate this year’s Democracy Day, I urge all citizens to continue supporting democratic institutions and embracing the values of patriotism, peace, and responsible citizenship.

“Together, we can build a stronger livestock sector, a healthier population, and a greater Nigeria.
