Barely a month ago, the Federal Ministry of Works received an alarming report on the heavy flooding that damaged the Sabon Gari axis of Section 2 Kano-Maiduguri road, which falls within Bauchi State.
Following the alarm, the Minister in his characteristic speedy response visited the site of the flood ravaged road on August 15th, 2024, where he not only empathized with the residents and road users over the devastation and dislocation, but also initiated emergency response measures towards repair and restoration of the road.
According to a press release made available to the media on Thursday by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Barrister Orji, “Today, the life-threatening problems faced by the people on account of the destroyed road has been solved as the Federal Ministry of Works has fixed the road and opened it for use on emergency basis pending when final and permanent construction work is completely executed.
“The road was on 12th September 2024 opened for use courtesy of the ingenuity of the Honourable Minister of Works”, he added.
Certainly this intervention has brought a huge relief to the residents and road users who were severely affected the disaster. It is particularly worthy of commendation considering that it is being carried in the heat of the rainy season.
