Peter Obi Exits Presidential Race, Dumps PDP

PDP Presidential Aspirant, Peter Obi has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) barely 72 hours before the party’s National Convention.

The former Anambra State Governor has also announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.

This was made public after the Director General of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dr. Doyin Okupe, submitted a copy of Obi’s resignation letter to the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja, on Wednesday.

Coming on the eve of hotly-contested presidential primaries, Obi who did not immediately disclose his next move, told Newsmen he caught wind of a gang up against him.

In his letter, The former Governor pointed out unfavorable developments within the party as his reason for quitting both the party and the presidential race.

He however appreciated his membership and left open future collaboration in service to the country.

Recall that the PDP Presidential primaries is scheduled to hold in Abuja this weekend, where Peter Obi was initially seen as a front runner in a race that includes Atiku Abubakar, Nyesom Wike, Dele Momodu, Bukola Saraki amidst other big names.
