Napoli has won an appeal it filed over abandoned Juventus game after coronavirus outbreak.Italian side Napoli, did not travel to Turin for their Serie A match against Juventus on October 4 after two members of their squad tested positive for the virus. Napoli’s request to postpone the game was refused by the Serie A authorities, on grounds that according to regulations, as long as the the team could field 11 players including a goalkeeper, they’re obligated to turn up for the match.Juventus, on the other hand named their team, and the match officials were present and had to wait until 45 minutes after the scheduled kick-off time before the game was officially abandoned.Juventus were then initially handed a 3-0 victory and Napoli were deducted a point for breaking match protocols. On appeal, Napoli explained that they did not travel to Turin for the Juve game on October 4, on the advice of their local health authority (ASL) who had told the players to stay at home after two members of their squad tested positive for COVID-19.The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) confirmed on its official website yesterday that its Guarantee Board, the highest tribunal in Italian sport, had accepted Napoli’s appeal and ordered that the match be played.Tuesday’s decision, will see Napoli into 4th place, edging Roma on goal difference.
