The former Inspector- General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase has been reported dead.
According to Sahara Reporters, the death occurred at Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja.
As of the time of this publication the Police Force is yet to confirm the news.
Arase who was appointed in 2015 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration became the 18th in the line of the Force’s Chief Executives.
Known as a crack detective, he once headed the apex intelligence unit of the Police- the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau.
He once held fort at the Akwa Ibom State Command of the force and also became the Assistant Inspector-General (Intelligence).
After his retirement in 2016, he continued to serve the nation in various roles. In January 2023 he was appointed by President Buhari as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, a position he held for 18 months before he was removed by President Bola Tinubu.
