FG To Recruit 370 Engineers for Road Construction Mentorship Programme

The Federal Government is in the process of recruiting 10 best engineers from each state of the Federation to be enlisted in a mentorship programme which will kick off in early 2026.

This disclosure was made at the Conference Hall of the Ministry Wednesday by the Federal Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, in the course of briefing the media on the Ministry’s projects, accomplishments and plans.

According to the Minister , the programme is open to civil, mechanical and electrical engineers as well as artisans.

“We’ve also started a program we call President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Mentorship Programme. We have advertised, we are taking the best 10 people, civil engineers in each of the states as directed by Mr President. We are deploying to the legacy road projects of Mr President and other very key projects so that they can go and learn the technology”, Umahi said.

“We’ve asked the companies to pay them and then we make savings so that at the end of that contract whatever is saved by us and the contractor we can begin to start some small startup business for these civil engineers.

“That is also for Artisans, Carpenters, electrical, mechanical engineers, truck drivers and operators. By January we will start that programme.

“There is no nation that can grow their technology by depending solely on outsiders. We have to grow our technology, we have to grow our construction, we have to grow our people”, he concluded.

Also present at the briefing were the Minister of State Bello Goronyo Mohammed, the Permanent Secretary Adeladan as well as other directors.
