APC Fixes February 26 for National Convention

Following the series of controversies and the pressure brought to bear on the Caretaker and Emergency Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), the Committee has finally announced that the party’s national convention will hold on the 26th day of February, 2022.
The announcement was made by the party’s scribe Senator James John Akpanudoedehe Tuesday afternoon in what could be regarded as one of the briefest media announcements ever. This development puts paid to months of uncertainty and mounting suspicions about the sincerity of the Committee in managing the party without any hidden agenda.
Akpanudoedehe who was visibly unhappy about the development going by his countenance and disposition was silent on the venue of the convention and rather than respond to the question walked away.
It will be recalled that the delay in making this announcement had generated alot of bad blood as well as internal disquiet and discontent. The Director- General of the Progressive Governor’s Forum Salisu Lukman resigned his position a few days ago in protest against the non announcement of the convention date.
The Committee which came on board after the ouster of the former National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole will be remembered for the reconciliation of many members and chapters who had felt wronged, cheated or frustrated in one way or the other in addition to the attraction of opposition elements.
The efforts paid off handsomely as many ex- members of the partysuch as the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara were wooed back while several high profile members of the main opposition party PDP such as the Governors of Cross River, Ebonyi and Zamfara States were also won over.
