Ajani Takes Over from Ndayako as Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Interior

The Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, 7th August, 2024, witnessed a landmark leadership transition as the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako officially handed over her responsibilities to the new Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

The ceremony which held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, marked a new chapter in the Ministry’s history, with senior officials and staff in attendance to witness the passing of the baton.

In her address, Dr. Ajani emphasised her commitment to advancing the Ministry’s goals, stating, “Indeed, we are colleagues, and as a united team, we must build upon the foundation laid by my predecessor.

“I envision a situation where, in six months, Dr. Ndayako will look back and see that we are collectively advancing the vision she shared with you. I am eager to engage with all departmental directors and agencies in the coming days and weeks. We will initiate our work immediately, with briefings commencing tomorrow.”

She further highlighted that the coming weeks would be crucial in formulating a clear vision for the remainder of the year.

Earlier in her farewell remarks, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, who has been redeployed to a new station expressed gratitude to the directors and staff for their support throughout her seven-month tenure. She conveyed confidence in the Ministry’s continued progress under the leadership of her experienced successor.

“I have no doubt that the Ministry will continue to achieve remarkable strides, as I am leaving you in the hands of an astute and experienced colleague, ” Ndayako affirmed.

On behalf of the Ministry’s directors, the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, Victoria Agbo, acknowledged Dr. Ndayako’s exemplary leadership and pledged continued support to Dr. Ajani.

In the same vein, the Chairman of the Joint Union Council, Comrade Bassey E. Bassey, also extended his support, assuring the union’s preparedness to collaborate with the new Permanent Secretary to address staff welfare and advance the Ministry’s objectives.
