The Federal Capital Territory-Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), has come out to distance itself from fake appointment letters being circulated in the name of the service with the intention to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
A statement issued to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday by the Head, Corporate Communications, FCT-IRS, Mustapha Sumaila stated that: “FCT-IRS is not recruiting presently and hence cautions the general public to be careful not to fall victims to those scammers and unscrupulous elements.
“FCT-IRS does not sell employment and whoever demands for money for job in the name of the Service, is a fraudster, therefore, you are advised to report such person or group to appropriate authorities.
“And anyone who patronises such fraudsters does that at his or her own peril.
“Meanwhile, the Service has put necessary measures in place to check and ensure those perpetuating the nefarious activities are brought to justice.
“The general public is hereby urged to always visit the Service’ website, www.fctirs.gov.ng or info@fctirs.gov.ng for any information.” He stated.
