Osun Declares June 24, Work-Free For PVC Collection

The Osun State Government has declared Friday, June 24, a work-free day to enable civil servants who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards do so, ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, on Thursday.

Three weeks to the gubernatorial election, the government urged public and civil servants to get their PVCs in order to be able to perform their franchise in the July 16 governorship poll.

Oyebamiji maintained that the development was to enable all public and civil servants exercise their constitutional rights, especially as it affects the security of their future.

According to the statement: “The Government of Osun State acknowledges the importance of workers in the democratic process, and is aware that the only way workers can give life to their aspiration for a worker-friendly government is through their votes.

“The government does not want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right, especially as it affects their overall wellbeing and the security of their future, ” the statement read.
