Robert Lewandowski Reaches 300 Goals for Bayern Munich

Breaks One Goalscoring Record and Equals Another

Robert Lewandowski became only the second player ever to score 300 goals for FC Bayern Munich in their 5-0 thrashing of Hertha Berlin on Saturday. In the process, he broke the record for most consecutive games scored in for Bayern and equalled the Bundesliga record for the same.

The prolific Polish striker opened his account for the day in the 35th minute, heading in the rebound after his own header came off the crossbar. He made it two goals in the 70th minute tapping in after unselfish work by Leroy Sane and completed his hattrick in the 84th minute heading in a flick on by Tanguy Nianzou.

His first goal made it the 16th straight game he had scored for Bayern Munich overtaking the record set by the legendary ‘Der Bomber’ Gerd Muller. That also made it the 13th straight Bundesliga game he had netted surpassing his previous personal best of 12 matches and equalled the Bundesliga record which he now shares with Gerd Muller and Jupp Heyneckes.

His second goal brought up 300 for Bayern Munich making him only the second player to do so after the aforementioned Gerd Muller. His third goal made it 16 in the Bundesliga for him again behind only Gerd Muller who is also the only Player with more goals for Bayern than Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has been nothing short of prolific for Bayern this year picking up where he left off last year. He had 7 goals in 4 matches with 5 of them coming in the Bundesliga making him the league’s top scorer ahead of Erling Haaland. He will be aiming for more of the same after the international break.
