FCT Minister Lauds Baze University Activities, Pledges Support for Growth


The Federal Capital Territory Administration has applauded Baze University for its projects and activities within the territory as well as its offer of continuous training to staff of the ministry at highly reduced cist.

While receiving members of the University’s Board of Trustees led by its Chairman, former Vice President, Arc. Namadi Sambo, on a courtesy visit, FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello thanked the management of the University for the offer which he said will provide an additional window for staff to upgrade their knowledge and qualifications.

He said: “The University communicated to us an offer for our staff to be able to enroll in some of their courses, especially on part-time basis at grossly reduced payment. For that we are grateful. We are also grateful for giving additional window of opportunity for our staff to be able to upgrade their knowledge and also their certificates”.

He said “Baze University and all its appendages and supporting activities is already a success story. We will try to work with you to see what we can do to support the growth of the University because, like I told you, we as city managers of Abuja feel very proud that this centre of excellence is here in Abuja”

On the issue of access road to the University and illegal settlements, around the institution’s premises the minister assured that the Administration will take positive actions on both issues.

Earlier, the Chancellor and Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of the University, Arc. Namadi Sambo said that the University was contributing to the development of the country and the nation’s capital.

He also said that the University was on the verge of commissioning a 200-bed teaching hospital as its contribution towards the delivery of excellent healthcare to Nigerians as well as reducing health tourism outside the country.

Also present at the event were members of the institution’s Board of Trustees including Alh. Yayale Ahmed, Senator YD Baba-Ahmed founder and Pro Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tahir Mamman, Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Malam Bashir Mai-Bornu and other staff of the FCTA and Baze University
