Omosehin Assumes Duty as Nigeria’s Commissioner for Insurance

The newly appointed Commissioner for Insurance who also doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission, Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, assumed duty in his new capacity at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja today Friday 3 May, 2024. He was welcomed by Senior Members of Staff.


Omosehin who was recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu takes over from Mr. Olorundare Sunday Thomas who was appointed as substantive Commissioner for Insurance by President Muhammad Buhari with effect from May 2,2020 after a10- month stint as acting Commissioner for Insurance.
Upon arrival, the new CFI had an interactive session with the entire Management and Staff of the Commission.


In his remarks, he stated that the Executive Mgt would set a new tone for the Nigerian Insurance Sector and expressed optimism that a more vibrant insurance sector will be achieved. In addition he noted that the insurance sector is expected to play a key role in realizing the Government’s target of a trillion dollar economy by 2026.


His predecessor Mr. Olorundare Sunday Thomas who was in attendance to officially handover to the new CFI used the opportunity to thank the staff for their support while in office.
