Again Insurgents Hit 2 Towers, Plunge Maiduguri, Environs Back Into Darkness

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that Maiduguri and environs has been plunged back to a fresh season of power outage following attacks by insurgents on two of its transmission towers.
The incident which reportedly occurred at about 5.56am on Saturday morning is coming barely two days after the Company completed an alternative arrangement to ensure that the ancient city and its environs enjoy power from the national grid while the two towers earlier hit by the insurgents are being rebuilt.
According to the company, the two towers along the Damaturu – Maiduguri 330kV Transmission Line involved in this new assault are T152 and T153.
The company noted that the alternative arrangement which was just completed on March 24, 2021 took 2 months to complete while reconstruction of the blown- up towers is still uncompleted and may take a little longer hence the interim arrangement which has now been frustrated.
It promised to continue to do all that it can to ensure power supply is restored to the affected areas.
