Abubakar, 11th ACCI President to be inaugurated Thursday

 

The Inauguration Ceremony of the 11th President of the Abuja Chamber of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) is scheduled to hold on Thursday the 25th of March 2021.

The announcement is contained in a statement by the Chamber’s spokesperson, Latifat Opoola released Wednesday.

The president, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar (FCA) who assumed office as the President of the ACCI in December, at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2020, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Apt Pensions Limited.

The inauguration ceremony, which holds every three years to mark the assumption of office of a new president of the chamber, is scheduled to be a hybrid.

The high profile event is expected to have in attendance, his Excellency, the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Elrufai as the Chairman of the Occasion, Emir of Gumi, Justice Lawan Gumi as the Royal Father of the Day.

Special Guests of honour include the Hon. Ministers of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Trade and Investment, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, and Otunba Niyi Adebayo.

Also invited as Special Guests are the National President, National association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (NACCIMA), Hajiya Saratu Iya Aliyu and all past presidents of the Chamber.

The event is expected to witness the assembly, under strict COVID-19 safety protocols, of leading Nigerian businessmen and women in the country.

Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar, is an expert in the financial sector of the economy; having served as Managing Director/CEO – Assurance Bank, Executive Director – Afribank Nigeria Plc, (now Mainstreet Bank ) , General Manager/CEO, New Devco Financial Services Limited and Group Financial Controller – New Nigeria Development Company Limited (NNDC) Kaduna. He was also on the Board of Afri Merchant Bank, IBWA Finance Company Limited, Dublin, (Republic of Ireland), Afribank Insurance Brokers Ltd, Kaduna Textile Limited, Apt Securities and Funds Limited and a Director of ARMECO Engineering Nigeria Limited.

The new ACCI President recently retired as the Managing Partner of the Northern region of Akintola Williams Deloitte & Co. (one of the leading audit firms in Nigeria).
